From Staff Reports

NEWBERRY, S.C. — Two female singing sensations who topped the charts in the 1980s — each as a solo act — will perform in a concert at 8 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Newberry Opera House at 1201 McKibben St.

“Get ready for a totally awesome night with two artists that define ‘80s pop” music, an event promotion stated.

“Easton has sold over 20 million records, won two Grammys, and was the first artist to have Top Five records on five major Billboard charts.

“Tiffany was the youngest female artist to top the Billboard charts with her debut album.”

The promotion also noted that, “following Tiffany’s break out on TV’s ‘Star Search,’ her No. 1 hits ‘I Think We’re Along Now’ and ‘Could’ve Been’ (and) setting a record as the youngest female artist to top the Billboard charts with her debut album, made her a true legendary pop star. In 2000, Billboard Magazine described Tiffany’s album ‘The Color of Silence’ as thoughtful, intelligent and full of grace — and ranked it among the Top 10 Best Albums of the Year.

“She released a new studio album ‘Shadows’ in 2021.  She has toured with New Kids on the Block, Debbie Gibson and more, with the Mixtape Tour in 2019. She has sold over 15 million albums to date. Fun Fact: Tiffany has her own cooking club ‘Let’s Food with Tiffany.’”

Easton, who went from starring in Las Vegas to co-hosting a TV show with Brian McKnight, “has continued to bring the star power,” the promotion stated. “She sang the theme for the 1981 James Bond film ‘For Your Eyes Only,’ and also got in front of the camera on ‘Miami Vice,’ ‘The Highlander’ and more.

“Sheena appeared alongside Raul Julia in ‘Man of La Mancha’ and as Rizzo in ‘Grease’ on Broadway.” Her recording career has included Gold and Platinum albums. She has sold more than 20 million records worldwide, received two Grammys, and was the first artist to have top five records on five major Billboard charts.
