Sangita Devi, a kirtan group based in Asheville, performs devotional music last Saturday at the Lake Eden Arts Festival in Black Mountain. Kirtan, a kind of bhakti (devotional) yoga that originated in India, is the spiritual practice of chanting names of Hindu deities in an attempt to bring about a more enlightened state of awareness and living.
