From Staff Reports

EDNEYVILLE — The Super ‘60s band finished its three-hour outdoor concert with a bang — delighting the crowd of several hundred as it performed a string of 1960s’ hits by Tommy James and the Shondells — on a balmy March 14 at Point Lookout Vineyards.

There was lots happening at the vineyards, as an oyster roast was held on one side of the main building, and the free concert on the other side, with each drawing hundreds of attendees. An hour or so into the oyster roast, that crowd wandered over to the concert to join in an afternoon of music, drinks and fun.

Dozens danced throughout the concert, kicking it up a notch at the end for the Tommy James and the Shondells’ hits, including “Crystal Blue Persuasion,” “Hanky Panky,” “I Think We’re Alone Now” and “Mony Mony.”

The band bills itself as having “a deep respect for music from the musically rich decade of the 1960s. Employing state of the art sound and lights, they strive to not only reproduce the music, but also the atmosphere from this most influential decade.”

First set songs included the Swingin’ Medallions’ “Double Shot of My Baby’s Love,” the American Breed’s “Bend Me, Shape Me ” and a medley of Beatles hits.

The set ended with Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline,” with many in the crowd singing along — merrily — to the chorus.

Among second (and final) set features were the Rolling Stones’ “Last Time,” the Zombies’ “She’s Not There,” the BeeGees’ “To Love Somebody” and two songs by the Temptations — “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” and “My Girl.”
