NEWBERRY, S.C. — The high-energy Sawyer Brown band aims to delight the crowd with its many country-pop music hits at 8 p.m. Feb. 19 at Newberry Opera House.

A promotion stated, “CMT, CMA and ACM award-winning group Sawyer Brown brings their tried-and-true brand of country music back to Newberry. Known for their soulful ballads, upbeat anthems and good times, Sawyer Brown sure knows how to create an energetic live performance.

“Hear hit songs like ‘The Walk,’ ‘Some Girls Do,’ ‘Thank God For You,’ ‘The Race is On’ and so many more!”

Founded in 1981 in Apopka, Fla., by Mark Miller, Gregg “Hobie” Hubbard, Bobby Randall, Joe “Curly” Smyth, and Jim Scholten, the five musicians originally were members of country singer Don King’s road band, but chose to stay together after King retired in 1981.
