HENDERSONVILLE — Assisted living facilities in Henderson County that have been especially hard hit by COVID-19 cases recently have experienced a steadying of case numbers, with the majority of new cases reported in the general population, the Hendersonville Times-News reported on June 24. 

“Cases have not grown in weeks for two of the largest outbreaks, according to a report released Tuesday (June 23) by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services,” the HT-N noted.

“The Laurels of Hendersonville is still reporting 97 cases (16 staff and 81 residents) and 27 deaths. The Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation/Hendersonville has remained at 51 cases (six staff and 45 residents) and eight deaths.”

The HT-N also stated that, “of the 514 COVID-19 cases in the Henderson County Department of Public Health’s last report, 242 are in long-term care facilities, a number that has remained steady while the overall case count continues to climb... All but two of the 49 deaths are linked to long-term care facilities, according to the health department.”
