Myth-busting the ‘myth-busting’ of Mumpower
So, let’s talk about Carl Mumpower and his relevance, or lack thereof.
I found his long-winded collumn that busted so-called “myths†disturbing, not just for its context but because Carl Mumpower is entirely unqualified to address these issues.
One “myth†Carl busted was that “Modern American is uplifting Woman,†He asserted that it was not. What evidence does Carl present? Well, apparently walking through the Grove Arcade and seeing a bunch of women unhappy with their minimum wage jobs is evidence enough for Carl that woman should go back to being self-medicated housewives or whatever weird 1950s fantasy is bouncing around Carl’s head.
The fact is, Carl Mumpower is not a woman living in America. His opinion on how women live there live does not matter. Carl is an old white man who people- watches in the Grove Arcade. These anecdotal observations do not make him an expert, and I am confused about why he has a platform to spout his half-baked ideas. Do you know who has a grounded opinion on these matters? Women! Let them speak for themselves: Carl, it time to sit down and listen for once.
And now our bumbling protagonist goes up against racism! Carl insists that what “drives the divide†is not race, but... Character. Yes, Carl believes that the average black worker in Ashville makes 30 thousand less a year compared to his white counterpart (Data USA) because of character. Carl insists the reason that 28 percent of African-Americans compared 12.3 percent of Caucasians live in poverty in North Carolina (N.C .Policy Watch) is because of character. Sorry to burst your bubble, Carl, but you are indeed saying something racist.
But again, is Carl a person of color? No. Is Carl qualified to talk about the lack of character in communities of color? Hell, no! Do you know who is qualified to talk about these issues? People of Color! Let them speak for themselves and Identify their problems. They don’t need some old white guy telling them it is a lack of character and not systematic racism that leaves young, black men dead at the hands of police.
Stop making assumptions, Carl.
Sit down and listen.
At the end of the day, Carl Mumpower is a psychologist and a former member of the Ashville City Council.
Carl is not a woman. Carl is not a person of color. I am not saying that his opinion is not relevant; what I am saying is that there are millions of voices in this nation that are more relevant than his.
We have problems in our county for sure, and I think an excellent way to start solving them is for the old white men to sit down and shut up. Let women speak and listen to them. Let people of color speak and listen to them.

Iran offers threat of WW III, unlike Iraq, Afghanistan
Eighty-two million inhabitants, the second largest country in the Middle East.
Around the city of Tehran there’s 15 million inhabitants. The country (Iran) has control of the Strait of Hormuz, which carries 25 percent of the world’s oil.
They have close ties to China and Russia and those two countries will support them.
Since 1979, the country’s people have lost all democratic privileges and the leader, called the, Supreme Leader, can declare war, control cyber attacks, direct sleeper cells in other countries, and use however many billion of dollars when he wishes to build a military presence.
This country is no Iraq, it is no Afghanistan. It is organized and running at the whim of the Supreme Leader, which could lead the world into a World War III.
