A 15-foot fire sculpture is unveiled on Sept. 23 in Boone by Danish ceramic artist Nina Hole, alongside students from UNC Asheville, Western Carolina University and Appalachian State University. Hundreds gathered on the ASU campus to watch as participants threw sawdust in celebration. The architectural sculpture was built collaboratively by students and faculty as part of an internatonal artist residency. Staff photo by KRISTIN ERHARD
