HENDERSONVILLE — Two ministers at churches based in Hendersonville recently announced their retirements.
The Rev. Jim McKlinley, who delivered his last sermon on June 2, retired after 22 years of serving the Unitarian Universlist Fellowship in Hendersonville.
His last sermon was titled “Thank You Notes” because “he wanted to tell the congregation thank you for the years he served and that he loved them,” the Hendersonville Times-News reported.
McKinley, 66, said he plans to remain in Hendersonville.
Also retiring is the Rev. Joel Hafer, who delivered his last sermon on June 16 after leading St. James Episcopal Church for the last 15 years.
Hafer, 61, plans to remain in Hendersonvlle with his wife Anne. He told the HT-N that they plan to “have some more adventures,” such as riding their bicycles on trails up the East Coast and visiting Major League Baseball Parks.
