Martial arts students Joshua Heetderks (14) and Claire Holland (16) practice Nakamura No Sai at the Center for Martial Arts on Merrimon Avenue. This form of karate-kobudo is say kata, which means "without a bow." Earlier on that Saturday morning of Nov. 12 the two were rehe- arsing on the front lawn of the martial arts center.
