Abigail Breslin will portray Baby in the television remake of “Dirty Dancing” that was scheduled to be filmed in Western North Carolina earlier this year, Entertainment Weekly announced on Dec. 8.

Breslin, who starred in “Little Miss Sunshine,” will portray Baby, who falls in love with a dance instructor at the resort where her family is vacationing.

Entertainment Weekly said that “ABC has officially greenlit a new three-hour musical version of the 1987 hit romantic drama that starred Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey....”
