Asheville women leaders to hold panel discussion at UNCA on March 18

"An Evening with Asheville’s Women Leaders: Past, Present and Future," a panel discussion featuring established local leaders, as well as UNC Asheville student leaders, will be held at 7:30 p.m. March 18 in UNC Asheville’s Sherrill Center, Mission Health System Mountain View Room.

The panel will address the challenges and rewards of being in leadership roles as women in typically male-dominated fields. This event is free and open to the public.

Panelists include Tiffany Drummond Armstrong, vice president of chapter and community development for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation; Katie Button, executive chef and owner of Cúrate and Nightbell restaurants; Liz Colton, journalist, diplomat and founder of EO Colton & Associates Global Collaboration; Taylor Foss, senior vice president of organizational transformation at Mission Health Services; Oralene Simmons, founder of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  Prayer Breakfast and The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Association of Asheville; and Stephanie Watkins-Cruz, UNCA senior and president of the university’s chapter of She’s the First. The forum will be moderated by Rachel Collman, UNCA senior and president of the Girls’ Achievement Through Education student organization.

 

The event is sponsored by Girls' Achievement Through Education, UNC Asheville’s Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies Program, and Mission Health, and is part of UNC Asheville’s Women’s History Month.
