The group Motown Blue performs July 1 during the weekly Park Rhythms Concert series beside Lake Tomahawk in Black Mountain. The band played a number of rhythm and blues classics, including Rufus Thomas’ 1964 hit, “Walking the Dog.” Motown Blue’s lead singer (center with microphone) is William Stafford of Black Mountain. The crowd, mostly seated in lawnchairs and on blankets in the grass, facing the lake, listened, with some dancing to the music.
