David Young, the former chairman of the state Democratic Party, recently announced that he will discontinue billing customers for water in a mobile home park he owns in Weaverville until a water filtration system can be installed to remove iron.
Young, a former member of the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners, said May 27 that water will be turned back on for those who declined to pay for the water, which has been described as murky and rust-colored.
Fees and fines for those who refused to pay also will be waived, he announced.
Young said he is “ultimately” the one who is responsible for the situation at Eden Glen Home Park.
