The 7th Annual Montford Music & Arts Festival on May 22 drew hundreds of people who enjoyed the music and art throughout the day and into the night. During the appearance of WestSound (left and bottom left), a number of attendees (other photos on page) enjoyed dancing to the band’s soul and rock music. Other musicians on the schedule included EMBE Marimba Band, Ira Bernstein and John Hermann, Vollie McKenzie and Roger Bellow, Hurt Mountain Boys, Pure Fiyah Reggae Band, The Cheeksters and the Screeming J’s. Other festival features included Asheville Shakesperience, the professional touring company of the Montford Park Players, Morris dancing from Asheville Morris Men and Ashgrove Garland (including a Maypole celebration) and the return of the Mountain Lion Chinese Dragon Dancers.
