King James Bible-believer
rips folks’ willful ignorance
Concerning the recent news item which got national, if not worldwide attention, I who am a saved, King James Bible-believer, feel compelled to make the following observation of the three groups involved:
Group # 1 — A local pastor and small congregation proposing to burn all versions of the Old and New Testaments except that of the Authorized King James, along with works by various authors and artists. While I believe this display to be quite imprudent, reproachful and attention hungry, the following groups deserve no more eminence than this one, even less.
Group # 2 — This gang is the kind who panic at the sign of any one who doesn’t line up with their “COEXIST” or “THINK GLOBALLY” etc. bumper sticker mentality, who also make laughable analogies comparing this event to the Dark Ages or the Third Reich. The protester present at the proposed burning wearing the Nazi uniform would be a good candidate for next year’s asylum Oscar. With this group, who needs Berkeley?
Group # 3 — More respect should go to the heads of organized crime
than this bunch. I refer to the Christian college professors, pastors,
evangelists, Sunday School teachers, etc. who tell their listeners and
readers that there is nowhere on earth a book that “Joe Simple” can
hold in his hands and believe “Thus saith the Lord.” And I mean a book
free of “unfortunate renderings,” “the Greek really says” and so on.
These are the educated Biblical “scholars” whose final authority is in
a bunch of original autographs which do not exist. I read and heard
them say, “The original says, blah blah.” It’s shameful that these
people write into local newspapers, speak with Matt Mittan on 570-AM.
so they can not only bash group # 1, but to bring down the King James
Bible to their own level of willful ignorance. I overstate nothing.
Common sense would show them the motives of the translators and
publishers who copyright ALL versions since the days of Wescott and
Hort. How dare anyone do that with the words of God? And don’t display
further ignorance by mentioning the “Crown Copyright” of the KJB
either. It had nothing to do with “the root of all evil”(1 Timothy
6:10, which reads differently in the NASV, NIV, NKJB coincidence?).
These modern versions derive from readings of corrupt ancient manuscripts with which I wouldn’t grace the bottom of a bird cage.

Individuals encouraged
to be charitable to jobless
This recession and jobs lost are not adequately presented in the news
media that report on unemployment (9.7 percent); in reality, persons
willing to work but unable to find a job is more like 18 percent. These
unemployed may be your friends or neighbors who don’t want you to know.
People employed full time or retired people with good incomes need to
think about greater sharing in this time of need. The social agencies
(ABCCM, Salvation Army, Eblen, etc.) are being inundated with
first-time families asking for help that they can only provide with
YOUR help.
This is not a short-term problem, and in order to get through these
tough times all of us need to give a little more of what we have to
those friends and neighbors who have no jobs and nothing left.
It is not hard to give used clothing, especially men’s work clothes and
winter clothing for families.
Families are going hungry, food donations
to charities are down, and this is unacceptable. This winter families
will go without heat unless we who have enough donate money to help
those who don’t.
Now is the time to give as much as you can.

Paper accused of bowing
to conservative advertisers
Your formerly interesting and more balanced newspaper, which used to
have useful information about events at UNCA and Mars Hill College
activities, has morphed into an ultra-conservative propaganda machine.
What are you thinking? North Asheville is primarily moderate to liberal.
Do you really think many people are going to bother to pick up a
worthless newspaper that is full of right-wing propaganda? Perhaps you
are going where the more lucrative advertising money is. Very
disappointing.

Shuler called disingenuous
in voting against health bill
I ask voters to note that once again on a key vote (the health care
bill), Heath Shuler was one of the very last Democrats to declare their
vote, only when the outcome was 100 percent clear and he no longer had
to fear Nancy Pelosi’s wrath.
Heath Shuler voted to make Nancy Pelosi speaker of the house, and
therefore he shares responsibility for Pelosi’s success in forcing this
government takeover of health care through the House.
Unless he calls for a change in House leadership, then this “no” vote is a meaningless decoy.
After voting for the energy tax bill, voting for Obama’s budget deficit
(the biggest since WWII), and after voting to elect Pelosi as speaker
of the house twice, it is not good enough to wave a phony conservative
flag whenever he does vote against his own party.

Mandates in health-care bill
termed un-constitutional
The health care legislation in Congress contains mandates to obtain
individual health insurance coverage. With this provision, Congress
would violate my rights, rather than protect them, which is Congress’s
constitutional mandate.
This provision is a clear violation of my right to voluntarily
associate and contract with health care professionals and insurance
providers to our mutual benefit without the interference of a predatory
third party.
It violates my right to economic freedom by forcing me to purchase
health insurance services against my will. It violates my right to
property by forcing me to pay penalties for declining to participate in
a coercive program. It violates my right to liberty by forcing me to
submit to incarceration for nonpayment of penalties or additional taxes.
It violates my right to self-determination. It violates my right to use
my mind to make judgments regarding my own interests and actions.
In short, this legislation violates my right to peaceably live my life as I see fit.
I oppose these violations. I say “No” to the coervice mandates
contained in this proposal. And it is my hope and wish that Senator
Hagan will stand with me and say “No” to this rights-violating health
care bill.

Lover of Parkway issues
call to catch the miscreants
Many thanks to Mr. (Mark) Barrett and Asheville Citizen-Times for the
series on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Trees are rapidly being replaced by
houses and golf courses.
The changing viewshed vistas are far beyond the protection of the boundaries of this 800 ft. wide national park.
However, a drastic change within the boundaries of the Parkway is the prevalence of illegal driving on this treasured road.
Today, after reading the newspaper article, a visit to the wonderful Parkway revealed:
1. Drivers zooming along on straight pipe motorcycles. I counted 12 such riders.
This sonic bombardment from their mufflerless machines blasts nature
for two miles before and two miles after they speed through the 25 mph
zone at Craggy Gardens. These machines are illegal in NC. Google
NCGS 20-128 and 20-183.7
2. Two motorcycle riders popping wheelies through the Tanbark Ridge tunnel.
This style of driving is illegal in NC.
3. Milepost 380 is a playground for the fast and furious who spin their
tires and spill white paint and destroy the pavement at Haw Creek
Valley overlook.
This is vandalism and is ILLEGAL in North Carolina.
When will the park rangers find time to stop these criminal drivers
from endangering our lives when we attempt to visit this national park?
Craggy Garden signs profess a radar patrol to enforce 25 mph speed limit. Really?
Position a ranger with a camera on top of the big rock at milepost 380.
Film illegal drivers when they vandalize the parking area.
It is simple to catch crooks if you want to stop this illegal driving activity.
