OAKLEY ?? Kenneth Michael Camby, 48, of Oakley, was charged with first-degree murder in the shooting of Maxine Joanne Yosten, 51, of Oakley around 5:30 p.m. Nov. 14 at 39 Loomis Dr.
Yosten was shot in the abdomen with a .38-caliber revolver inside her home She called 911 to report the incident and, according to the Buncombe County Sheriff??s Department, identified the shooter as Camby.
After the shooting, deputies found Camby hiding in an outbuilding and took him into custody without incident.
While Camby lives with his mother on Floyd Drive, he reportedly spent much of his time at Yosten??s house a few blocks away. The couple had been together for around 20 years.
He was ordered to attened a domestic violence program in 1995 after he was charged with assaulting Yosten. A separate charge of assault on a female was brought against him in 1999, but never went to court.
