The Asheville Tourists and Lakewood BlueClaws once again battled into extra innings and, for the second night in a row, Lakewood battled back to win – this time by a 6-5 margin on July 21 at McCormick Field.
Behind clutch hitting, Lakewood scored all six of its runs with two outs.
With two outs in the top of the 10th, Joel Naughton brought home Freddy Galvis with an RBI single off Matthew Reynolds. Galvis doubled and advanced to third on a Brian Rike throwing error.
Trailing by two runs entering the bottom of the ninth for the second night in a row, the Tourists tied the game at five.
With two runners on base, Everth Cabrera singled home Lars Davis
to bring the Tourists to within a run on his second RBI of the night.
Michael Mitchell stepped up with the tying run on third and delivered
with his second RBI of the night, a single to tie the game for the
second consecutive night.
