The Greenville Drive chilled the red-hot Asheville Tourists with a 7-3 thumping in front of a season-high crowd of 3,923 at McCormick Field and a local television audience on Saturday.
Asheville had won three in a row and 12 of its last 13 games.
The Tourists raced to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but managed just one hit over the next four innings and were unable to put any more runs on the scoreboard.
Recording the loss was starter Cory Riordan (6-4), who ran into trouble with the Drive who scored four runs in the third inning.
