UNCA wins regular-season finale
UNC Asheville ended its regular season with a 10-8 victory over Winthrop University in Big South Conference baseball at McCormick Field last Sunday.
Asheville (23-33, 6-15) scored eight runs in the first inning and then hung on for the win over Winthrop (24-32, 11-10).
The Bulldogs earned the eighth seed in — pitted against fifth-seeded High Point — the upcoming BSC tournament that began this past Tuesday in Danville, Va.
Meanwhile, Winthrop beat UNCA 10-1 in a baseball game last Saturday at McCormick Field.
Charleston tops Asheville
CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Charleston RiverDogs held the Asheville Tourists
to one hit en route to a 3-1 victory to pull within a game of first
place in South Atlantic League baseball Sunday afternoon.
Asheville fell to 29-15, while Charleston improved to 28-15 in the SAL Southern Division.
Taking the loss was Connor Graham (4-3), who allowed three runs on three hits with two strikeouts.
Tourists rally for 5-2 win
