Tourists iron GreenJackets
6-3 for 5th-straight victory

AUGUSTA, Ga. — The Asheville Tourists finished a three-game sweep of the Augusta GreenJackets with a 6-3 victory on Monday night.

Leading Asheville (18-7) to its fifth consecutive win was Helder Velazquez, who finished 3-for-5 with 5 RBIs, highlighted by a grand-slam home run in the seventh inning.

UNCA romps past Radford
for 1st ‘08 BSC series win

RADFORD, Va. — UNC Asheville erupted for eight runs in the seventh inning to rip Radford 15-6 last Sunday to win its first Big South Conference series of the baseball season.

The 15-run output was the second most by the Bulldogs in a game this season.

UNCA (20-28, 4-11) amassed 26 runs in the Radford series. Each Bulldogs starter collected at least one hit, one RBI and one run in Sunday’s game, led by Kevin Mattison, who finished 4-for-6, and Elliott Arrington, who collected 4 RBIs.
