Kudos to Publisher and Editor John North for skewering the Asheville Citizen-Times in your ìletterî to Randy Hammer.
You hit the nail on the head, to bend a couple metaphors.
I worked for that ìclone of USA TODAYî one season, and it was a revolving door of the arrogant and the airheads.
Your comments about ìfreakiní Aívilleî are fairly accurate as well ó but there are readers/book lovers.
Can you name a Southeastern city of Ashevilleís size that supports
two independent bookstores? (Malapropís and Accent on Books.).
Not used books nor buyback nor antiquarian nor ìkeptî (college)
bookstores ó but independents who purchase new books from publishers
and distributors?
I cannot.
Which reminds me, please bring back a local book review column ó not some syndicated reviewer.
Literate Asheville denizens derserve someone better than Rob Neufeld (the AC-Tís book reviewer).
