Firefighters work to extinguish a fire at the Ashley Furniture HomeStore on Patton Avenue that started about 9:30 Monday night. The Asheville Fire Department successfully kept the blaze from doing much damage to neighboring businesses, though the furniture store was destroyed. Fire and Rescue Chief Greg Grayson said that all Asheville Fire and Rescue units but one were involved in the effort, while other county fire departments pitched in to fill their unmanned stations.
