Fired? Resigned? BC mum
on Collinsí departure as AD

BREVARD ó Tom Collins is no longer the athletic director at Brevard College, school officials announced last Thursday.

BCís announcement did not make it clear whether Collins was fired or resigned.

In a related move, BC promoted Kim Pate from assistant director of athletics to interim AD.

The schoolís administration is grateful to Collins for his work, Valerie Leeper, director of marketing and communications, noted in a statement.

ìThe college continues its commitment to current and future atheletics programs and looks forward to the inevitable growth of sports teams at Brevard College and to the fulfillment of the athletics master plan, recently approved by the Board of Trustees,î she said in BCís announcement.

Last May, head football coach Bobby Poss was fired suddenly.

BC is in the finals year of provisional status, as it moves toward full NCAA D-II membership. The Tornados are 3-12 since re-establishing football in 2006, following a more than 50-year hiatus.
