INMAN, S.C. ó The Asheville Grizzlies ripped the Upstate Vikings 23-7 to regain first place in the South Division of the North American Football Leagueís Southeastern Conference late Saturday night.
Asheville scored first on a blocked punt in the first quarter and scored 15 more points in the first half. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies held the Vikings scoreless through the first three quarters.
Leading Ashevilleís offense was running back Cortez Oliver, who netted 122 yards on 13 carries.
Defensively, the Grizzliesí Sam Brunson recorded 12 tackles.
Asheville lost its first game of the season on Aug. 25 to the Atlanta Generals 31-27, leaving the Grizzlies in a three-way tie with the Generals and the Georgia Crusaders.
