Kevin Mattison, an outfielder for the UNC Asheville baseball team, was† named to the Coastal Plains League All-Star team last Wednesday.
Mattison, who is from Kernersville, will be one of 24 players on the national team that was to play in the all-star game in Columbus, S.C., this past Tuesday.
Playing this summer for the Edenton Steamers, Mattison, a rising
senior, leads the league in home runs with nine and has driven in 18
runs. He has three doubles and leads the club in stolen bases with 17.
He helped lead Edenton to the first half title of the North Division.
For UNCA last season,† Mattison hit .274, with six homers and 28 RBIs.
He set a single-season record with eight triples. He also is UNCAís all-time leader in triples with 19.
