sheville Tourists ó a league-high record ó played in the 2007 South Atlantic League All-Star game won 3-1 by the North Division team in front of 5,105 fans on June 19.
The participating Tourists were on the South Division team, coached by Asheville manager Joe Mikulik, who was named the Southern teamís manager for the third time sonce 2000. In addition, Bryan Harvey, the Touristsí pitching coach, was named to the All-Star team in his first year.
The Asheville players combined for five of the 11 hits by the Southern team.
Following is a summary of the Touristsí players performance in the All-Star game:
ï Daniel Mayora started at second base, finished 0-for-3 and committed a fielding error that accounted for an unearned run.
ï Michael Paulk started at first base, played the entire game and finished 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and a strikeout.
ï Shortstop Hector Gomez finished 0-for-2 with a strikeout.
ï Michael McKenry went 1-for-2 with a strikeout.
ï Victor Ferrante went 1-for-2.
ï Keith Weiser and James Burok each pitched a scoreless inning, with Burok registering a perfect inning.
