UNC Ashevilleís Rob Vernon provided offensive fireworks to lead the Bulldogs to a doubleheader sweep ó 7-2 and 11-5 ó over Radford University in baseball last Friday afternoon at Greenwood Field.
Vernon finished the day 6-for-8, with three doubles, a home run and six RBI for UNCA.
In the first game, Vernon smacked a two-run RBI double in the third inning, to provide UNCA with a lead it never relinquished.
Starter Alan DeRatt (4-3) pitched a season-high 7-2/3 innings, allowing
two runs on 10 hits. In the final 1-1/3 innings, reliever Jordan
Dorsett allowed just one walk.
Meanwhile, UNCA starter Josh Lett gave up four runs on eight hits in 6-2/3 innings in the second game.
