I have some scattered thoughts that Joe Biden was the best thing ever for the Republican Party, but that is at odds with the idea he is doing everything he can think of to sabotage the incoming Trump administration.
He has ruined the Democrat Party.
Another thought is that Biden is abusing the power of the presidential pardon.
I don’t think it was ever intended to excuse personal crime, a thought along the line of presidential immunity... only adhering to acts committed within the scope of the office of president, not personal acts.
But, with my limited education, not being a law school graduate or a constitutional law scholar, my expressions could be laughable.
I believe, for the average person, it is kind of like a Supreme Court justice once said about defining pornography, as opposed to art — we all recognize pornography when we see it.
Using your son to enrich your family to the tune of (what is the figure now?) $50 million and climbing, holding out 10 percent for the big guy and failing to pay income taxes on ill-gotten gains — I don’t think that is behavior that is within the scope of your office, so, according to the court’s ruling, immunity would not apply.
It is in my mind an oxymoron to have a presidential pardon apply. But I ain’t no scholar.
One thing that should be investigated is how this undocumented money affected American policy. Are we being blackmailed into supporting the war in Ukraine?
Would fewer people (7 million) have died due to the Covid pandemic if we had responded differently to China?
How has this money affected our Asian policy?
Were decisions made the best for our country and our allies into the future?
Hence, it is important that, when acting as a foreign agent, you register as a foreign agent.
This line of thinking leads to the idea of selling presidential pardons and commutations.
If the family business is selling influence, it begs the Occam’s razor question — one relevant to Western North Carolina going back to the year 1994. Namely, why commute the death sentence of Richard Allen Jackson?
That is like, to quote my detective captain friend, “spitting into the face” of the victim’s family.
I remember the day it happened. The helicopters flying over. I knew the family. Everybody in Bent Creek knew the family. And I know the details of the crime. Why!!!
Are we still in the influence-peddling business?
I understand the power of the pardon is absolute, but that needs to be tempered with a little “common sense.”
Certainly the motivation for these pardons needs investigation and information gained from that needs to be aired in the cleansing sunshine of the American people.
Are these (Biden) pardons tied to the family business?
