WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. William Timmons, R-Greenville, S.C., was selected on Jan. 17 as chairman of the Military and Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, his office announcd Jan. 17.
Conmmittee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., selected Timmons for the job of subcomittee chair.
“In addition to his new role, Congressman Timmons also proudly serves on the House Financial Services Committee,” a Timmons’ press release stated.
Regarding Timmons’ subcommittee chair appointment, his congressional office released the following statement on Jan. 17:
“This prestigious leadership role reflects Congressman Timmons’ unwavering commitment to strengthening national security, supporting our armed forces and advancing America’s position on the global stage.
“In his new role, Congressman Timmons will lead oversight of the national security apparatus and work with the Trump administration to end the worst border crisis in history. As chairman, he will work closely with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to address emerging threats, enhance the readiness of the U.S. military and ensure the effective implementation of foreign policy objectives.
“‘It is an honor to be entrusted with this responsibility at such a pivotal time for our nation,’ said Timmons. ‘As chairman, I will prioritize the safety and security of the American people, support our service members and veterans, and work to promote peace and stability around the world. I look forward to collaborating with my colleagues and President Trump’s administration to stand up for our warfighters, secure our border once and for all, and reclaim America’s standing on the world stage.’”
Meanwhile, regarding his selection of Timmons as subcommittee chairman, James Comer, R-Ky., the committee chairman, stated the following:
“Representative William Timmons is an effective member of the Oversight Committee and I am excited to announce him as the next chairman of the Military and Foreign Affairs Subcommittee. In this role, he will lead our oversight of the national security apparatus and work with the Trump Administration to end the worst border crisis in history created by the Biden Administration. I look forward to working with Representative Timmons as we strive to make the federal government more efficient, effective, transparen, and accountable to the American people.”
Timmons, also serves on the House Financial Services Committee, with assignments to the Subcommittee on Financial Institutions, the Subcommittee on Digital Assets, Financial Technology, and Artificial Intelligence, and the Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance.
