From Staff Reports

HENDERSONVILLE — The Fazio Family Boys & Girls Club of Henderson County recently announced that its free after-school program will be open for an additional hour every day, the Hendersonville Times-News reported on Jan. 16.

Under the new schedule, which began in January, the facility will close at 7 p.m. instead of 6 p.m.

“The additional hour of service will support deeper, more engaging content and enable greater flexibility for member families,” the HT-N noted.

“Expanding its service schedule is the latest growth initiative at the Boys & Girls Club, which is aimed at supporting local families in the wake of Tropical Storm Helene’s regional devastation.

“Other development priorities at the Boys & Girls Club scheduled for this year include delivering more vibrant STEM education, improving service capacity at the facility to reach an average daily attendance of 400 youth, and achieving a greater health and nutritional impact through a substantially improved kitchen space.”

Regarding the club’s aspirations, the HT-N reported, “The combined effect of these upgrades will allow for the Boys & Girls Club to become a more comprehensive resource to its valued network of service partners and will position the club to attain further growth goals, like its pursuit of a competitive grant application to serve in Cohort 18 of North Carolina’s 21st Century Community Learning Centers program, aligning the club’s development trajectory with the strategic priorities of its partners, families and stakeholders.”
