Tuesday, 30 June 2009

Asheville Tourists manager Joe Mikulik was named to the South Atlantic League Hall of Fame on June 25.

Mikulik, who has either played or managed in professional baseball for 24 years, is the franchise’s all-time leader in games and victories.

At age 45, he is in his record 10th season with the Tourists and is the SAL’s all-time leader in wins with a 671-641 record (.511), as of June 24.

Mikulik has been named SAL Manager of the Year three times — 2001, 2007 and 2008 — and has managed in four All-Star games.

He also played minor-league baseball for 12 seasons, mainly for the Houston Astros organization.
