Larry Brown named Charlotte Bobcats coach Print E-mail
Tuesday, 13 May 2008

Larry Brown recently signed a four-year contract to coach the Charlotte Bobcats, a National Basketball Association team.

His signing marks his return to North Carolina, where he played for and coached at the University of North Carolina under Dean Smith.

Brown was signed by another UNC alumnus and NBA great, Michael Jordan, who is a managing member of basketball operations for the Bobcats. The team is in its fourth year and just completed a 32-50 season that culminated in the firing of Sam Vincent, who struggled to find consisent rotations and clashed with his players.

Brown, 67, is one of five NBA coaches with  more than 1,000 wins and is the only coach to lead teams to NBA and NCAA titles.

However, Brown has not lasted long anywhere and often has left under ugly circumstances. In his last job, he coached the New York Knicks to a 23-59 finish and clashed with management.
