Bulldogs nip Blazers 6-5 as 9th-inning rally fizzles |

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A ninth-inning rally by Alabama-Birmingham fell short, as UNC Asheville nipped UAB 6-5 in baseball March 25 at Young Memorial Stadium.
UNCA (8-18) scored three runs in the eighth inning to secure the win over the Blazers. The outcome gave the Bulldogs their second series victory of the season.
Among the game’s highlights, UNCA’s Rob Vernon swatted his fifth home run of the season to put his team on the scoreboard in the fouth inning. Vernon, who finished 1-for-4, extended his season-high hitting streak to nine consecutive games.
Collecting the win was Michael Bogaert (2-2), while Ben Buchanan notched his fourth save of the season.
