Elvis Presley, as performed by Phil Urban, proved to be a smash with the overflow crowd of several hundred people — particularly the female contingent — on Aug. 15 during the weekly Music on Main Street outdoor concert series. Above, he portrays the younger Elvis, complete with pink dinner jacket and tight pants — and lots of hip-shaking moves. After a break, Urban reappeared as the older Elvis, with a tight, jewel-studded jumpsuit, to perform the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s later hits. He was backed by the TCB Band. Many of the female fans, including a number of younger ones, jostled in front of the stage, hoping for a sweat-stained scarf as a souvenir. Presley was well-known for tossing scarves to his many female fans. Urban, who is from West Columbia, S.C., has performed professionally as an Elvis impersonator for almost 25 years. He performs frequently in Las Vegas, Nevada. Asheville Daily Planet Staff Photos
